How to Have a Cozy Fall Day

Posted on September 1, 2021August 26, 2021 by Giulia

Fall is my favourite season and having a cozy fall day is the best kind of day in my opinion. Fall is even more cozy than winter I think because the light is more comforting, the air is a has the scent of fallen leaves and it just calls you to have warm drinks and relax and be cozy. Can you tell I love a cozy fall day?

Here are my ideas for how to have the perfect cozy fall day.

Break Out the Blankets

I mean, you can’t have cozy without warmth right? And blankets are definitely warm and snuggly so for the perfect cozy fall day, break out a snuggly blanket and cocoon yourself. I personally love chunky knitted or crocheted blankets so I recommend those. My favourite way to enjoy a blanket in the fall time is to read cuddled up under the blanket, or watching a favourite movie.

Hot Drinks to Warm You Up

Hot beverages are a must for a cozy fall day. I prefer tea, but if you’re a lover of coffee, got for it. But try tea because it’s great and just screams coziness. Autumn is the perfect time of year to enjoy flavoured teas or coffees. Pumpkin spice, chai, vanilla something or another, and so many more are available. So pour yourself a cuppa while watching TV or reading and enjoy the coziness!

Hobbies that Grandma Loved

Bear with me here–you know I’m a big advocate of having hobbies as apart of your self care, and I truly believe that hobbies that are kinda considered old fashioned are perfect for cozy fall days. So break out the yarn and start knitting! There’s nothing cozier than crocheting or knitting on a fall day, especially when that light is autumnal gold. It’s also a great time of year to make a big chunky blanket or warp. If you do crochet, check out my Shades of Amethyst Wrap pattern on Ravelry. Or, take up embroidery or cross stitch as alternatives.

Fall Fragrance

If you love candles, then it’s likely a no brainer that burning a candle during this season will create a cozy atmosphere. So light up a candle that smells like fall. I prefer to buy candles that are made from beeswax or soy based oil as I believe it’s healthier so definitely look around for a high end, quality candle company when looking for candles. It would be especially nice to have a candle lit or a grey, or rainy fall day. Alternatively, power up your aromatherapy diffuser and create a fall blend using clove oil and orange oil.

Get Soup Brewing

Have I ever mentioned that I love soup? Because I do. Like, I could eat soup every day. In the fall, I like tomato soup or split pea soup, or best of all, butternut squash soup. I’ve created a few of my own recipes too! I am actually super stoked to get to cook soup again soon. It’s the perfect meal (or part of a meal) for a cozy fall day. There are tons of soup recipes online, so if cozy is your thing (or soup is) then this is a great way to get cozy this fall.

Cuddle Up in a Sweater

Sweaters are a favourite upper body garments. Like, I love sweaters and always have. I wear them all fall and winter. Living in Canada, I guess that only makes sense. But what could be cozier then getting out a favourite sweater and snuggling up with it on with a mug of tea and a book? Nothing right? Sweaters are the perfect thing to wear to have a cozy fall day. And, best of all fall is the perfect time of year to buy a new sweater. Because you can never have too many sweaters. Well, I can’t since I wear them most of the year.

Final Thoughts

No matter which season of the year it is, it’s best to fully enjoy it. Enjoying the simple moments in life is so important, and having a cozy day indoors is both relaxing and good for your mental health. I hope some of these ideas resonate with you and that you find a way to have a cozy fall day this autumn. I fully intend to enjoy the fall this year, and hopefully have many cozy days!
