Over the past few years, I’ve really been watching a lot of Youtube and loving some of the channels I’ve found. I actually subscribe and watch the videos as they come out because I really like those channels and creators and want to keep up with the content they are putting out.
There are plenty of reasons why people head over to YouTube to consume content. A lot of the time we are looking for tutorial style videos or how to videos–like how to fix your dishwasher. Sometimes we are looking for very specific information such as when my husband was watch shopping. He wanted to know everything there was to know about higher end watches and how watches worked and the choices and brands out there. He read lots of articles, and watched a lot of videos.
And sometimes we head to YouTube because we want some quick entertainment.
Whatever the reason, many of us love and use Youtube and I want to share those channels I’m really digging lately.
Beebs Kelly
This channel is so great for those of you interested in fashion and beauty. Beebs has created tons of content around styling your body and working with your fashion concerns and body type. She also talks a little about the British royal family, but her channel is really more about fashion than it is gossip or royals, and I can’t tell you how much I’ve learned about how to dress my own body type from this channel.
If you are looking for a fashion and beauty channel where you can learn something from someone who has experience and background in the area she’s talking about and is down to earth, kind in her critiques and reviews, then you need to check out this creator. I find her informative and entertaining.
History Calling
I’m a lover of history, and this is one channel I really like as I feel the creator really does her homework and tries to present not only historical fact, but critical interpretation of some of the questions we have regarding persons and events in history. The channels primarily focuses on British history and so you really get to deep dive the Tudors and such eras in history like the War of the Roses. You get to go back to contemporary (primary sources) and examine why we have certain ideas about certain people in history. I personally find it fascinating so if you enjoy history, you should definitely give it a try.
What I really like to is that the channel will even focus on a mundane question like “who the person in this portrait?” and present a conclusion that is logical based on the evidence while allowing you room to decide for yourself if you are inclined to do the research yourself. And of the really obscure (for lack of a better word) questions in history are truly fascinating.
Darling Desi
I first found this channel when I was looking at book vloggers a lot, but Desi is so much more than a book vlogger. She creates beautiful videos about the seasons, about her home and life and I find her adorable and the channel so relaxing because of the stunning aesthetic of her videos. You’ll see her walking in the woods, baking, trying on Victorian style clothes, talking about her favourite books, and decorating her hone for Christmas or Halloween. Her videos for me are an uplifting balm and I just love them.
I’ve seen few such well done Youtube videos, so I think if you are remotely curious you should check her out. Especially if you love Anne of Green Gables.
Nicole Rudolph
This channel is super interesting. I found it quite by accident, and have since watched many of the videos. The creator is a fashion historian (as far as I can tell) and re-creates fashion from different time periods, but seems to focus primarily on shoes. And I have to say, I have really loved her videos featuring not just vintage but antique shoes and discussing how those shoes were made, why they look so tiny and how sizing worked in the days of yore.
I really love the history and research behind the videos, but the topics themselves are so interesting as well like the history of stiletto heels or her videos were she makes Victorian boots. She even tackles topics like colour season analysis and dressing for your colour season. I just love this channel and think it’s a lot of fun. It’s nice to see two different niches (history and fashion) combined in such an interesting way and content that is well thought out and beautifully presented too.
Royal Fashion News
I really like this channel because you get to see a lot of fashion, specifically the fashion European royals are wearing. I’ll admit to being into the British royal family–I guess my love of royal history morphed into an interest for the late Queen’s history, and from there into the royal family itself. And I like this channel because you get to see what the royals are wearing out at their events and Brittany, who is the reporter behind this channel, really zeros in the fashion of everyone from Queen Camilla and the Princess of Wales to Queen Letizia of Spain so we really get to see a wide range of styles and fashion from many royal households.
That’s a bit of background on my history with the channel, but I keep going back because I really love seeing the outfits and the jewels–Brittany also dives into the tiara collections of the different royal families, and I really love jewelry so seeing all that glorious bling just tickles me pink. So if you like high end fashion or royals or jewellery, you might like to check out this channel.
Final Thoughts
I hope you find even one of these interesting! I find lots of interesting videos from these creators and I do really enjoy them. Hopefully you do too.
What Youtube channels are you really enjoying right now?
I haven’t watched any of these channels, but I should check them out, especially Darling Desi’s channel. Lately, I have been loving Safiya Nygaard (fashion and travel), Mia Maples (fashion/beauty), and Jack Edwards (books).
