If you have summer plans, well, you are not alone. Summer is a wonderful, hot season where everyone wants to get out and enjoy the sunshine and do things. We want to hit the beach, go on hikes, walk in the city, bike by the lake and so much more. Now, last summer I was in my third trimester and then the mom of a newborn, so the summer flew by and I didn’t go to the beach or do anything really summery. The summer before that, I did get married and my hubby and I did do some fun stuff, but it was 2020 and pre-vaccines, so things were…well, you know.
Now, this summer is looming before us and I have things I want to do, and things I think my hubby and I need to do because we have been cooped up way, way too long between Covid and new baby, and for my hubby, new job. There are so many fun things I want to do, and I hope we can do them. Therefore, I’m starting this series by outlining what I’d like to do this summer, and then sharing an update when I do those things in a separate blog post. So hopefully I can share some fun summer outings and events with you in each post ๐
Hit the Beach
I think the top of everyone’s summer plans is the beach, because who doesn’t love sun and sand? There are a couple of locations my hubby and I can hit nearby that would be fun and easy to do with the baby as we have family homes we can stay at. I love being in the water and I think it would be fun to bring the baby into the water and splash around with him a little, as well as go for a swim. I have plans to get Baby J a little pool so we can keep him cool, and an umbrella to keep him in the shade.

Bike Rides
I have been wanting to get a new bike for several summers now, but the one I want is not cheap and so I still have my old bike which I don’t like as I’m a tad too short for it. Being 5’1″ is somewhat problematic as structures (i.e bikes, chairs) don’t quite fit me and I’m left with my feet dangling like a little kid. But, I do hope that whether or not I can get the bike I want, I want to go on some bike rides, as they are definitely apart of my summer plans this year. I’m not sure how my hubby and I will manage this with the baby, but I’m sure we can figure out something.
Picnics
Last summer we planned to picnic on the lawn in front of the building, which was under some large maple trees and actually quite a nice spot for a little picnic. However, that area was actually the roof of our building’s underground garage, the roof of which needs to be repaired. These repairs resulted in all these glorious trees being chopped down, the grass ripped up to expose the roof which is currently being drilled through and repaired. So, that lovely little picnic area is now a construction zone. Smh. Now, we still want to have a picnic or two with the baby, it’s just a matter of finding a new spot to do so, which I’m sure won’t prove hard. So a-picnicing we will go.
Bird Watching
Why don’t I just do this? I don’t know. Things are blooming, birds are out, it’s time and I hope I will be bird watching long before it’s officially summer. On a walk a couple of weeks ago, I not only heard bird song, but also saw a turtle in the creek nearby as well as some ducks, and that was really nice. So I want to go on walks with the baby and see what we can see. A camera that could take pretty pictures of the birds would be nice too, but I am not sure that is in the budget.
Road Trips
My husband keeps talking about doing some road trips, like a day trip. We haven’t really sat down and planned anything but I know there are places we can hit that would be cool to see and fun for the baby too. I personally like to go to places where I can go into some cute shops, and I also love to get out on a trail and take in the trees. I have a thing for trees.
Final Thoughts
Now, I know these sound like pretty typical summer doings, however, I have plans to make them special with photos, and since itโll be a lot of firsts for Baby J it will be super special and fun I think. Iโm really excited to document these events and memories as well. Summer always seems like the shortest season to me, so I hope we can squeeze in all the things and have a fabulously fun summer.

This is such a fun list of summer activities! I loathe summer with a fiery passion, so I pretty much avoid outdoors from April through September. If I don’t have to deal with bugs, heat, and allergies, I will! However, I do miss the beach sometimes!

I’m not a big fan of humid heat, but I do like summer though I also hate bugs. Especially wasps! They will sting without cause!
I love a summer picnic by a stream. Have a great summer!
Thank you!
These are some great ideas to do this summer. I dont have any definite plans for the summer. I know i want to visit certain places especially the beach. Thank you for sharing.
