What is your favourite meal, and why?
This is such a hard question for me because I have so many meals that I really enjoy. I think the best way to answer this question is to say that my favourite meals are ones that are savoury and include a variety of textures such as falafels with hummus or curries with rice. I just love the herbs and spices mixed into those meals and the explosion of flavour I experience makes eating so satisfying.
What is a moment in your life you are proud of?
The moments in life I am most proud of were also hard moments, or a crossroads in my life. When I moved out on my own was such a moment or when I changed jobs three years ago was such a moment. Both times, they were hard decisions but have been the best things I have done for myself and so I am proud I had the courage to make those changes even though they were scary and hard.
What is your favourite childhood memory, and why?
When I was very little, my dad used to make up fairy tales to tell me. I loved those stories so much, and there was one or two he told me over and over again. Those are my favourite memories because it was so soothing listening to my dad tell me those stories and because I was so young, there is still a magical quality connected to them.
What is your favourite family tradition?
Traditions are so interesting because they do change over time and I have seen my family traditions change from childhood till now. I suppose a favourite tradition of mine is enjoying a family meal together. It’s something we do often, but I have realized that what was common place for me was not so common place in other families, and so I’ve learned to value those gatherings, especially during self isolation.
Why do you write?
I started writing when I was very young, imitating some of the tween books I was reading, and I kept writing well into my teens and early twenties. I always felt there was a story to tell, but I was also discouraged a lot, for a lot of different reasons and throughout my life I have returned to writing again and again to express my thoughts, feelings and to connect to the world. This blog is about helping others, but I do that through writing, and I feel like my writing can touch and help others and helping others has always been important to me.

In Conclusion
I’m so happy to have been nominated, and I hope you’ll check out some of these blogs as they are wonderful written by amazing people. It was great to get to share some more about myself too.
My mother used to tell me and my sisters stories, and we still have so many of the story books she told stories from, though the way she changed the stories and made them her own is something that stuck with me and inspired me to tell my own stories. I started out re-writing fairytales.
It is often strange how our traditions change, or maybe we do not even realize they are traditions until we end up without them, so I loved reading your reflections! It is a pleasure to see the blogging award love continue! 🙂
You are so sweet Jaya, thank you! It’s’ funny that our love for stories and writing is kinda embedded in the memory of being original stories. And I was just thinking, I ought write out the stories my daddy used to tell me!
I think writing down stories from your youth is a lovely way to remember them!
Me too! I am definitely going to do this.
Congratulations on the nomination! Favourite food would be such a tough one for me too. Thanks for the tag, they’re really interesting questions! x
Sophie
I can’t wait to read your post for the award Sophie!
Oh my goodness, thank you so much for nominating me, this is so kind of you! I really enjoyed reading this, it’s always so interesting to find out more about fellow bloggers – and I love that childhood memory of your dad telling you fairy stories, that’s such a special memory to treasure X Lisa
I really ought write those stories down in a collection. Then I could read them to my kids–if I ever have any!
