15 Facts About Me, A Meet the Blogger Post

Posted on June 13, 2020June 13, 2020 by Giulia

I’ve been blogging for about five months now, and I think it’s time to really share some more about myself. You know a lot about me already if you’ve read some of my posts, because Tidbits of Care is all about sharing my journey, my experiences with you. Sometimes that gets a little personal. But today, you’re going to find out some facts about me that are interesting, funny, wacky and even private. Let’s get started shall we?

Me, August 2019

Fact 1: Other than suffering from anxiety, I have also dealt with chronic pain, IBS and needed three surgeries in my lifetime, two when I was very young. As a result, I’ve learned to listen to my body, lively more naturally and holistically, and just know not to judge when others say they are suffering. Chances are, they are and you just can’t see it.

Fact 2: You already know that I’m a bird mom if you’ve read my post about the story of my doves, but you might not know I adore animals. I was never allowed pets as a child, although my dad did keep birds, but I have found that my heart has a huge space to love animals, and I have more pets than I have talked about on my blog. I hope to share more about that with you soon.

Fact 3: I’m gluten free. Go back to fact one, because being gluten free is IBS related.

Fact 4: I’m potato free. Meaning, I don’t eat potatoes. Again, go back to fact one, because this is also IBS related.

Fact 5: I’m an avid crocheter! I have my own Ravelry store and I have designed some lovely and simple patterns.

You can find the pattern in my Ravelry store.

Fact 6: I cannot dance at all. I have zero rhythm. I’m also a terrible singer, but I love to sing and make up songs to tunes I already know. My hubby to be says I’m awful. And I am, sadly.

Fact 7: I would love to live on a big plot of land and have a big, heated barn for all my pets. My dream is to garden and have a side business of selling goods I’ve made myself, like candles, crocheted shawls and yarns. And of course, to write full time.

Fact 8: I love jewelry. And I have tons of pretty sparklies in my jewelry box. My grandmother was always huge into gold–earrings, rings, necklaces, bracelets–she has it all. And really nice pieces because hers were all made back in the day. I still remember the day she opened her locked jewelry drawer and showed me her pieces. Each had a story. I don’t know if I got my love of jewelry from her, but I love being bedazzled.

Fact 9: I don’t like fruit with my desserts. I just don’t get why you would put strawberry on top of a piece of cheesecake. Or on the side of a plate of ice cream or a brownie. I don’t get it.

Fact 10: I must be the only woman in my age group that has never watched Gilmore Girls. Or Sex in the City.

Fact 11: I’m kinda obsessed with Etsy. I love that you can get so many neat on there, from phone cases to vintage jewelry and handmade items. I try to mostly buy from Canadian sellers as I like to support small Canadian businesses if I can.

Fact 12: I created an Instagram account for one of my pets. I’m not sure how I feel about that actually, (as in I don’t know if I think that’s lame, or quirky, or what) but I do love posting pictures of her on there!

Fact 13: I’m a big Trekkie. HUGE actually. The trivia facts that I know amaze even other Trekkies in my family.

Fact 14: I’m fascinated by the Tudors and will read anything set in the Tudor court whether it’s based in the time of Henry VII or Queen Elizabeth I.

Loving this series.

Fact 15: I’m highly sensitive and empathetic, and so I feel things very strongly. It’s been hard for me being this way, because I cry easily and it’s super embarrassing sometimes. But I also think it’s makes me a better person, so I let myself be more who I am now than I did in the past.

Whew, those are fifteen facts about me! Hopefully you thought this was a fun post, and maybe even connected with some things whether it was an interest, or a life experience. Sharing all of this has been an interesting experience for me as it forced me to do some reflecting–what are things about me that are interesting and unique?

I’d love to hear your thoughts about this post in the comments below, so please comment away! xo
