Crochet Projects I want to Hook Up This Year

Posted on February 12, 2021February 12, 2021 by Giulia

I have been crocheting for several years now, and I am quite advanced in the craft, although at times I just don’t have the patience for larger and/or more complex crochet projects. But I still love crocheting and I haven’t been hooking (a term crocheters use to describe crocheting since crocheting is done with a tool called a crochet hook) seriously for a while now. However, I do want to get back into the hobby and I have a couple of crochet projects that I want to try my hand at. The first is already in the works, so stay tuned for that later in the post and the rest I want to share with you today.

Just a little disclaimer before we get started, all the patterns I am sharing with you today are from I Like Crochet magazine, which I do subscribe too. I am not working in collaboration with this company, or receiving any form of compensation, including monies, for sharing these patterns. This is not an ad or promotional post.

Moonlight Mobius Scarf

The first project I would like to try my hook is this cute scarf, made with a cute shell pattern. I like working with patterns that not entirely mindless but not overly complicated and this one is a great one to start off in my opinion. I’ll be using a different yarn the one recommended because I have tons of lovely yarn at home already, so I intend to dip into my stash before buying more yarn. However, it’ll still be a lovely shade of purple.

Bunny Hop Set

So I just have to make this for my baby. I mean, look at it! It’s a little diaper cover and a bunny hat. That just screams me because I have a pet rabbit, and my baby, boy or girl, will look adorable in this for some photo shoots. This pattern was also created by one of my favourite crochet bloggers, Olivia Kent who designs sweet crochet projects for babies and ladies, mostly shawls and scarves and hat, over at Hopeful Honey. Sadly, her blog has not been updated since 2019, but there are still tons of patterns on there for free and links to her Etsy shop if you are interested in her patterns. I don’t know what yarn I’ll use for this cute bunny set, but I’ve got time to figure that out. I will definitely love hooking up this crochet project!

Ambrosia Hooded Scarf

Who doesn’t want a Little Red Riding Hood scarf? I know I sure do. Do I have this shade of red at home–probably not, but if I have one close enough it’ll do the trick. I am super excited about working on this project, I feel like it’s perfect for fall and winter to throw on over a light jacket and hoodie. This is what I love about this magazine, it really has something for everyone in every edition.

Baby Snuggle sack

This is a project I’m currently making for my baby, but it’s in the early stages and since I am designing it myself, I have no photo to share with you. Essentially, this will a crocheted square that I will fold in half, sew the side and bottom together and leave it open at the top to slide baby into creating a snuggle sack. I saw several patterns for this idea on Pinterest, but none of then suited the yarn type I wanted to use or just seemed like a weird design and I wanted something simple.

In Conclusion

I am so excited to get back to crocheting! It has brought me a lot of peace and really been an important part of my self care in the past. I can’t even explain how good it feels to begin to get back into a hobby that stress and exhaustion had taken the joy out of for what feels like months on end, and how happy it makes me to be able to focus on this craft again.

I love the hooded scarf, it looks warm and cozy. I knit and I have so many projects that are half done right now. My plan is to finish them all this year..

Oh, I had that plan once too lol but I think I might have to re-purpose the yarn for those projects.

When doing a long crafty project, sometimes we run out of motivation. Great projects and it would be fun to make them.

I always wanted to learn crocheting but never came to it yet! Hopefully, this time at home will give me the chance to do it! Truly love the bunny set, it’s so cute!
