I have plans post lockdown my friends. Big plans. Well…some are big plans. Anyway, it’s no secret if you have been following this blog for a while now, that I am in lockdown. Thank you Covid! And I have been in lockdown for months now. I am thoroughly sick and tired of it. I mean, I love my house but I feel like a prisoner at times. And since my life is going to change in five months when my baby is born, I have been thinking about how my lifestyle will change, how my home will change and I’m planning, planning for change.
Home Renovations
Oh yes, one of my plans post lockdown is home renovations. When I first bought this condo back in 2008, it had not been upgraded at all since it was first built, but the homeowner was kind to her home and it was in fairly good shape, if outdated. I planned to redo the floors, the kitchen…but alas, costs always exceed income and unexpected life events happened…you know how it goes. My husband did re-do for the kitchen for me a few years ago now, but it wasn’t a full upgrade. It was a nice face lift, and more recently he re-did my ensuite bath for me, which again, was a face lift.
But we are not doing bathrooms or the kitchen this time around, oh no. And my husband is not going to be handy manning it. We are getting the floors done! From blue-grey carpet that is easily thirty odd years old, we are going to gorgeous procleain floors. I am sooo stoked! This flooring will go throughout the condo, and it’s going to really brighten up the place. For our room and the baby’s room we are going to do with really nice, patterned carpet in a commercial grade and I am super excited about that too. We want to start this for April so we are done before the baby comes.
New Built in Shelves and More
We are also planning to have a bench built along our big picture window in the living area. It could serve as a nice reading nook. In face, since my old pine book shelves have to go, we are going to have drawers to store all the books I own–and I have tons of books. We will need a contractor for this, although we have discussed getting something from Ikea and will likely go that route, but we are getting this professionally installed as well as the built in shelves we want to hold our TV and other devices. We plan to use those shelves to house some decor as well, and I am excited about this change to our home as well.
Plans for Travel Post Lockdown
Now, we have no plans to jet off in a plane. We have a baby coming after all. But I do plan to get out of the house! I have been coped up for months. I plan to go to Ikea, and go baby shopping, and even go out for dinner. We might even do some road trips to some nearby sights if restrictions allow. Planning for travel is going to be hard, and my plans post lockdown are to get out and enjoy life to the fullest, as much as I safely can.
Baby Shower
Another one of my plans post lockdown is to have a baby shower at some point (maybe June or July) and while this may seem unwise in a pandemic, I am going to be honest and say I had a wedding shower last summer (and a wedding) and we were safe because we got creative and made sure that social distancing was in place and that we were following our region’s guidelines for gatherings. So I am certain we can pull off something similar for a baby shower. And if the restrictions are more strict, we can always do virtually or a drive by or something.
Self Care Plans Post Lockdown
All of my plans post lockdown are going to be potentially stressful. Renovations are…messy. And they don’t happen overnight. So self care is going to be key during this time. Here is what I plan to do for self care.
Reach out to family and friends. My husband and I are both pretty resourceful but I do plan to reach out to family and friends if I need help. I know my mom would be happy to cook meals for us if need be, and I know a few friends who would love to help me out with the baby shower. So if I need this help, I shall ask for it like a sensible person.
Practice mindfulness. I intend to try and not let my emotions take over during moments of stress. Mindfulness is not something I am always good at, but it is going to be helpful during this time.
Do things I love. It’s important to still have fun even while getting ready for a major life event, like the birth of your first child. So I hope to be able to continue to read and enjoy other hobbies even as things get a little hectic.
Spa day. I’m badly in need of a spa day. I really want to get my nails done, and to have a pedicure and get my eyebrows shaped. I also need to get my hair done. It hasn’t been touched by a hairdresser since October and it shows. My slip ends are so bad that they are starting to mat and that’s just…not right. It’s not right.
Conculsion
These are my plans post lockdown and I am betting more will come up as lockdown is lifted. But these are the main ones, and likely the most exciting ones. I honestly can’t wait for the day I can go out and see people and start living life more normally than I have been for the past four months. It’s going to be a breath of fresh air.
Are you in lockdown? What are you plans once lockdown is lifted?
You have some pretty good-sounding post-lockdown plans. Getting parts of the house renovated is always exciting. I’m sure your new floors will look fantastic. Having a nice place to keep your books and an area to read will be amazing as well.

Aw, What a lovely list to look forward to! I can’t wait to see my nieces and nephews again! It’s been so long and they are big parts of my life π I also can’t wait to sit in a restaurant for date nights instead of take out! I miss eating the food fresh rather than take out. Thanks for sharing! Hope lockdown lifts soon xx

Yes, it’ll be nice to get togther with family and friends again. It also will be lovely to sit out in a resturant and eat a meal.
I can’t IMAGINE how you have managed not being able to go shopping for the baby. When I was pregnant Ii could not stay out of the baby stores. I was completely out of control! π
I don’t have a lot of big plans post lockdown, I would love to go sit in a coffee shop and read or write, maybe do a little people watching. i’m really looking forward to seeing friends and family that I haven’t seen in over a year. It will just be nice to feel something close to normal. Thanks for sharing!

What choice did I have LOL? I want to see the stuff I’m buying my baby, not just order it online so I have had to wait. I think the best thing post lockdown will be seeing friends and family again.
