Self Care and Personal Goal Setting for a Happy 2021

2020 was a year…and likely a lot of goals we had set for ourselves went out the window, or were changed because of what happened. Goal setting is an important part of growing as a person, of zeroing in on what you really want out of life and how you are going to attain that. But I am goal setting for 2021, and I hope to inspire you to do the same.

My goals may seem small or insignificant, but each of them was chosen to help me get back to me or to help me attain my greater overall goal of living more self sufficiently.

Goal One: Read More Books

Reading is a passion of mine, but over the past few years, I’ve really not done a heck of a lot of reading. There are lot of different reasons for that, but I really want to get back into reading more consistently. It’s so much fun after all! And reading is a great way to practice mindfulness since you have focus instead of clicking on ten different web pages about ten different things. To that end, I created a list of books I want to read this year. Of course, I always shift those books a bit to dive into something new that I run across but there are books I really want to read and what on earth am I waiting for? Of course reading made my goal setting for 2021 list.

Goal Two: Journal More Often

I think I need to change how I journal because my old way is not working for me anymore. I am going to look into bullet journaling, prompts and mix and match until I find a way that works for me today, and not the me of yesteryears. This way, I once a notebook is finished, I can get a new one (finally!) and keep on journaling. Journalling is a great form of self care, so it’s time to really make it work for me again.

Goal Three: Starting Crocheting Projects I’ve Been Putting Off

I have been hot and cold with my crochet for a while now. I have tons of projects half started (some I can’t even remember what they were) and more bookmarked to complete. It’s time to dive back into hooking and get my groove back. I already have my first picked out, and the yarn was in my stash and go I am ready to get started. For me, crocheting is calming and rewarding once the projects are completed so this is going to really help me in my self care.

Goal Four: Stay Committed to My Blog

I have had time to really grind away with this blog, and while I may not always have the time I do right now to dedicate to it, I intend to stay 100% committed to this blog. I want this blog to grow and reach a larger audience to help others, to realize my dream of being a writer, and to possibly become self employed to some degree. I am so excited about where I am taking this blog, how it will look, the content I will share and it means a lot to me to be able to help others.

Goal Five: Become Even More Minimal

I have only scratched the surface of becoming minimal, and I hope this year I can de-clutter and reduce even more. We have tons of stuff in the apartment—clothes, books, yarn, art supplies, notebooks, pet supplies and lots more. I know we can do better and that we will feel all the less stressed for reducing even more. I am itching to get into my closet and just reduce, reduce, reduce. My goal setting for 2021 was always going to include becoming more minimal. I want to start all over again in a sense and now is kinda the time to do it as my weight is not what it once was. While I have the intention to get back to a healthier weight as I am a little too heavy right now, I know that this isn’t going to happen overnight and hanging on to clothes that do not fit me makes zero sense to me now. So I might store them, or simply donate them. We will see.

Goal Six: Getting Back into the Kitchen

Honestly, I used to love cooking, and for a while now I haven’t. I haven’t even been cooking that much for several months because my husband has been picking up all my slack in that department while I’ve been dealing with stress and exhaustion. Fall of 2020 was not kind to me in a lot of ways. But I would really like to start cooking some meals again because it was something I enjoyed and took pride in. And my hubby likely needs a break. Plus, I feel this will help me with a work life balance and I am in need of more balance. This goal for 2021 is very important to me, and I hope to meet it sooner rather than later.

Them’s the goals

Setting small goals may seem something besides the point, but really all of these are going to help me obtain my larger goal of being self sufficient, as in, hopefully be at least partly self employed. I’ve dreamt of working from home for years now, and it always seemed like a pipe dream, but I know that I have a plan now that can make this dream a reality and I plan to pursue it. And setting too many big goals can be overwhelming because acheiving those goals takes time and planning and true dedication. So one big goal for me, supported by six little goals. you’ll notice many of my goals centre around self care, and that’s because I get overwhelmed easily. If I want to stay focused and motivated then I need the self care to meet my goal. I hope that 2021 is successful for us all.

Today has been a wonderful, quiet day—after all the cleaning was done that is. I cherish quiet days. It’s nice to just melt into them and enjoy the sense of peace that comes with them. I love to read, or crochet on quiet days, or watch the baby as he plays. Who else loves quiet days? #tidbitsofcare #peacefulday #selfcaresunday🌸 #quietdayathome #lifestyleblogger #blog #selfcareblog #timetoreflect🙏
I really want to see green things and flowers again. We had a mild winter until March hit, then snow and wind and rain. I know it’ll be a while till I see green and springs blooms, but who says I can’t indulge in spring like things? Or delight in the longer days? It’s spring in my mind today. When life gets too blah, your imagination can really lift your spirits! Do you imagine warmer days, upcoming vacations or yummy dinners? #tidbitsofcare #selfcareblog #bloggerlife #springiscoming #spring2023☀️ #springtime🌸 #lifestyleblogger
Yesterday I ran errands and did some housework but I also got on me time and got my nails done. I’ve been doing more light, neutral shades lately. They just feel more me and more elegant. But if I’m in the mood, I splash into colour too! It’s all about just being myself. Because it’s okay to just be me ☺️ #tidbitsofcare #personalgrowth #selflove #selflovemoments #blogger #lifestyleblogging #bloggers #selfcareblog #bloggerlife #bloggerstyle
