How to Bring the Beauty of Spring Into Your Home

It’s more important than ever to bring the beauty of spring into your home. Spring is here, and this year I have a touch of spring fever! I am not the only one unable to get out and enjoy the sunshine as much as I would like. Usually at this time of year, we go to a nearby city for the atmosphere, walk the streets, have a beer, and just enjoy being out of doors. I stop in a local yarn shop there, buy some yarn to crochet and it’s become a trip we look forward to in the spring. I don’t think that is happening this year. We also usually go to a nearby park and take pictures by the cherry blossom trees. This year, they are roped off and there are actually security guards there to make sure people don’t stop to take photos under those lovely trees. Social distancing is being enforced in Ontario.

So how can we enjoy the spring with these restrictions? Especially when Canadians are busting at the seams every spring to leave long winter behind and soak in the warmth and sunshine? The answer is simple: Bring the spring into your home.

Have Fresh Cut Flowers

I’ve always loved flowers, and whenever my husband to be gives me flowers, I just melt. But I’ve also never been one to buy fresh cut flowers for my home because I feel as though it’s a bit of a waste of money. No more. You better believe I’m buying fresh cut flowers now. Fresh cut flowers brighten up the home, and I am yearning to have flowers around me. This is an easy way to bring the beauty of spring into your home. You can have a vase in your main living area, and one in your bedroom, or other room you spend a lot of time in. Buying potted orchids is another good option. The flowers last a long time, and if you don’t mess with orchids too much, they tend to do well.

Open Up the Windows

Today is such a beautiful day that I’ve opened all the windows to freshen up the home, and I am loving hearing the birdsong from outside. It’s peaceful and so spring like. The goldfinches have returned to my area and it’s fascinating watching them flitter from tree to tree. The fresh air and sunshine certainly do a lot to bring that spring feeling into the home as well. So draw back your curtains, open the windows and you’ll soon be feeling uplifted by the beauty of birdsong and fresh air. And all the natural light will certainly change the way your home feels, and do wonderful things for your mood and energy levels.

Indoor Gardening

Now, if you have a backyard, by all means, go nuts and get gardening! This spring, it is the perfect to enjoy the sunshine and get vitamin D. But if not, try your hand at some indoor gardening. Since we have the time, it’s worth the effort, and the results will prove beneficial to your mental health too. I certainly intend to try gardening indoors–I’ve decided to grow cherry tomatoes, pansies and some herbs in my condo. Fingers crossed! I’ve not had much luck with indoor gardening before, but I am going to try some different things this time.

Essential Oils

I love essential oils. They are a natural way to bring in the natural scents of nature into the home. And the therapeutic properties are a huge for anyone looking to live more holistically or suffering from anxiety. Diffusing floral or citrus oil like lemon or lavender can certainly bring a sense of spring indoors and make your space feel much more spring like. My favourite floral oils are lavender, vanilla, ylang ylang and rose. I also enjoy sweet orange and lemon. It’s not the same as sitting in a rose garden, but it certainly is very natural. These fresh, floral scents are a great way to bring the beauty of spring into your home.

Freshen Up Your Space

Yes, this means it’s time to get spring cleaning. You don’t have to start washing windows and cleaning behind the fridge to bring a sense of spring into your home however. Instead, freshen up the linens. Switch your tea towels to ones with brighter colours and floral patterns. Put away the big cozy blanket and put out one that is lighter on the sofa instead. If you have some winter decor still out, put them away and instead display a vase with pussy willows or other greenery. Buy some cushions that have natural patterns like palm leaves to add to your space. Little changes can make you suddenly feel as though the bright weather is right in your home. I challenge you to get “spring cleaning” to bring the beauty of spring into your home!

Bringing spring into your home can mean different things for different people, but flowers, natural light and fresh air are easy ways to beautify and freshen up your home this spring. Find colours and patterns that uplift your living space and suit your sense of aesthetics and your home will soon be feeling brighter and beautified.

I’m Looking For…

Let's Connect: Instagram

Early in March, I decided I could begin returning slowly to blogging. I had lots of ideas, felt ready and wanted to dive in. And I did. But then April came and the whole month was a mess. So all the work I did never met the light of day. Sometimes, life is like a pretzel 🥨 It twists and turns in unexpected ways. Sometimes that’s great! Other times, not so much. This was one of those not so much times. But, I think I’m getting back on track. Which is super exciting!! So I hope you’re excited for more on my little blog #tidbitsofcare #bloggerlife #blogger #blogging #bloggingselfcare #selfcareblog #selfcarebloggers #lifestyleblog #selfcareblogging
Spring! I’m so happy it’s here! But these last few weeks I’ve been crabby, exhausted and even full of rage. I’ve no idea why. I’m taking steps to bring balance back into my life—taking my meds, supplements—and today had a total self care day. Massage, pedi and facial—and a little shopping. I can’t think when I last had a day that was totally mine like today has been. I feel utterly zen now. Here’s the thing—self care is daily practice. But sometimes you need a big break from life to really recharge and relax. I hadn’t been really doing too much of that as a new mom. And it got to me. So don’t be like me! Or rather, be like the me I was today; the one who made the day totally hers. #tidbitsofcare #selfcareblog #selfcareblogger #blog #bloggerselfcare #selfcareiskey❤️ #selfcareday #lifestyleblogger #peronsalgrowthjourney #bloggerlife🌻
Spring spring finally over the Easter weekend and now I’m loving the feeling spring is bringing me. I feel like I can do so much, like life is brand new, I feel excited without knowing why. Who else is loving spring? #tidbitsofcare #selfcareblog #springissprung #springbuds #springdays #springmood🌷 #bloggerlife #selfcareblogger
If little things like pretty bracelets make you feel good, go for it! We all need little things as part of our daily self care ☺️ Whst little things are part of your self care? #tidbitsofcare #selfcareblog #selfcareispriority #selfcaresunday #selfcaresunday✨ #lifestyleblogger #bloggerstyle #bloggerlife #blogging #selfcarepage
It’s the kind of rainy day that has put me into a mood. I feel useless and dumpy and kinda depressed. This wet, cold, dreary, winter weather has gone on long enough but I don’t think we’ve seen the end of it yet. So…time to figure out how to rise above these yucky winter blues. I’m going to journal and read something lighthearted. What do you do when you’re down in the dumps? #tidbitsofcare #selfcare #winterblues #lifestyleblogger #selfcareblog #bloggerlife #rainydays☔️ #blogging #selfcareisapriority #selfcareday❤️
Freshened up! I love getting my nails done, it’s such an important part of my self care. It gives me time to myself, and makes me feel put together and tidy. This pretty pink was screaming spring at me, so of course it was a no brainer choice. What self care have you practiced today? #tidbitsofcare #selfcarenails #selfcareispriority #selfcareblogger #bloggerlife #bloggerstyle #selfcareday #prettynails #pinknails💕

I just mopped the floors and added spearmint essential oil to the mop water. The floors smell delicious now, and very much like spring! We do not have enough flowers for vases yet, but flowers and open windows bring the smell of spring. 🙂

Great ideas! I have dried flower bunches and switch them out between winter/fall and spring/summer. Spring is in the air! I just posted a fun activity to do with kids or significant others to jump start flower bulbs. Like minds!
