5 Essential Oil Blends that Uplift You on Fall Days

Posted on October 23, 2021October 14, 2021 by Giulia

Need to be uplifted in the fall? While many people really love the fall, and I am certainly one of them, it’s no secret that with the shorter daylight hours in the fall and winter, that many people also get down in the dumps. Or are even more seriously affected by SADS. Depression and anxiety can increase during this time of year. So it is essential to keep up self care to remain feeling well balanced in the fall, and I use essential oils to uplift in in the fall, and any other time I am feeling blue.

It’s definitely important to be aware of that the shorter days can affect your mood, and do what you can to make sure you are supporting your mental health if you are affected by the darker, shorter days. Eat well, get enough sleep, get out in nature and practice self care—whatever that looks like for you.

Aromatherapy has really helped me in my self care and is a great way to support your mental health. So today I wanted to share with you some essential oil blends that I like to use to uplift my mood on dreary fall days.

Clove and Orange Oil

This is a really nice blend that I use to promote cheerfulness. Orange is a bright scent, one that is said to uplift and energize, this is one great for helping reduce stress and anxiety. I like to blend it with clove because clove oil is warm and reminds me of fall, and also because clove oil is energizing. I add five to ten drops to my diffuser and just take in some deep breaths. It’s a blend I go to again and again because it makes me happy.

Vanilla and Lemon Oil

This blend reminds me of lemon cake and who isn’t happy when eating cake? Lemon encourages a positive mood and vanilla is known to be relaxing and help with reducing anxiety. I love the smell of these together and find them calming. I use to five to ten drops of lemon and ten drops of vanilla. Most vanilla oils will be pre-blended with a base oil, as pure vanilla oil is very expensive, so that’s why I recommend using a little more.

Lavender and Eucalyptus

While I do use just lavender on it’s own to reduce stress and anxiety, I like to blend it with eucalyptus as well. Eucalyptus is known to help you focus, to be energizing and to relieve mental fatigue. So these two blend nicely, a lovely floral and a fabulous wood. It’s a forest scent right in your home, and I do really feel the tension melt away and my energy pick up. I go heavy on the lavender in this blend—ten drops lavender, five drops eucalyptus.

Ylang Ylang, Orange and Clary Sage

With ylang ylang being my favourite in this blend, you have a powerful blend of soothing, stress reducing oils. Ylang ylang is known for being calm the mind, uplift the spirits and is just generally delicious to breathe. Orange, as stated earlier is known for being energizing and clary sage reduces stress and anxiety. All in all, a lovely blend to uplift the spirits, help you focus and improve mood. I like to blend ten drops ylang ylang, two drops orange and five drips of clary sage. This for me, is the perfect blend to uplift my spirits in the fall.

Peppermint, Lavender and Germanium

Germanium is a lovely floral that is known to help with stress and anxiety. Paired with lavender and peppermint, you have a powerful blend of oils that calm and ease tension. Peppermint is also known for helping to relieve pain, so this a lovely blend if you are also feeling under the weather. I mix ten drops peppermint with five drops lavender and seven drops germanium.

In Conclusion

I love to mix oils and reap the benefits of aromatherapy. I find it soothes the mind and calms the soul and I just really love the lovely fragrances as well—especially as they are natural and not artificially produced with chemicals. Essential oils can do a lot to support your mental health. I do want to say however, that if depression and anxiety is proving too overwhelming, if you can’t function in your day to day life, that you ought seek the help of a mental health professional. Please be sure to enjoy your self care practices and remain active in supporting your mental health, always. Each of us deserves to live a life that we love, which is why I focus so much on self care as all too often it’s so easy to put ourselves last, to think we don’t need or deserve to focus on ourselves. You are worth the time, money and attention.

I love eucalyptus – It’s probably my favorite essential oil scent. I’ve never tried it with Lavender before but I think that’d be super relaxing.

These essential oil blends sound like a beautiful and simple way to support mental wellness during the fall season. I love how each combination is thoughtfully chosen for both its scent and emotional benefit—especially the clove and orange blend for a cheerful boost. Aromatherapy really can be a powerful self-care tool when used with intention.
