How to Enjoy a Cold, Snowy Day

Posted on December 10, 2021December 1, 2021 by Giulia

Dreading those winter days? Well, never fear because there are ways to enjoy a cold, snowy day. It’s the end of November, and it’s snowing. Not a lot, but enough to cover the ground and layer the trees in that winter wonderland look. And while snow can be a pain in the butt, it’s also wonderful. I truly adore all the seasons, and I’m really excited that winter is here!

While some people get outside on snowy days to play or ski, I have other, cozier ways to enjoy snowy days. Because it’s not always practical to be outside for long. On truly frigid days, it’s best to hunker down and make like a bear. And I do.

But I also have suggestions for those of you who like to get out and enjoy the snow.

Make a Blanket

If you knit or crochet, making a blanket is a perfect way to spend a cold, snowy day. However, you can also make a blanket without these skills. Just YouTube how to make a blanket with your hands. I have seen some people do this, and it looks easy! All you need is big chunky yarn.

A Walk in the Snow

My husband and I did this last year. It wasn’t super cold out, but it was snowing big fluffy snowfalls so we got on our gear and went for a walk. We also took the opportunity to take some winter photos. I have to say, even though it was a bit chilly, it was cozy and fun too.

Get Writing

I cannot tell you how much I am inspired to write right now. I don’t know why the cold and snow has bought this out, but I want to sit down and play with words. If you enjoy writing, a cold snowy day is the perfect time to get writing. I might even bust out the fountain pens.

Build a Snowman

This is especially fun if you have kids, but you don’t need kids to have fun and build a snowman. Just do it. I mean, there is nothing better than playing in the snow and building things with it a snowman is something everyone can enjoy. I even love seeing little mini snowmen on people’s front porches.

Enjoy a cold snowy day

Winter Decor

If you like to decorate your home seasonally, then a snowy day is the perfect time. Especially if it’s near Christmas. For me, winter decor is all about being hygge, but of course at Christmas I have the tree up and stockings and what not. You might also consider candles, blankets, pillows, snow dusted pine cones, ever green garlands, and even red and black plaid.

Watch the Snow Fall

Why not take some time and watch the snow fall? There is nothing like admiring the snow falling down, nothing as magical. So take ten or even fifteen minutes with a cup of something warm and sit back and watch this miracle of nature.

Read a Book

You know me, reading is a passion of mine so course this makes the list! There is NOTHING better to do on a cold, snowy day than read in my books. I mean, I can finish a whole book on a snowy day. It’s just so cozy to read while the snow falls outside your window.

In Conclusion

Snowy days are awesome. Yes, we get tired of snow and winter. But who would want to live without winter? Not me. So the next time snow hits in your neck of the woods, be sure to really the day. I even advise taking a “snow day” if the weather is really bad and the roads are iffy and staying home instead. You’ll enjoy the weather so much more.

Do you love snowy days? Hate them? Let me know in the comments.

I like to walk in the snow for a bit and then come home to a warm house, have some hot chocolate and sit down to read. I love all your other suggestions; they’ll certainly make a snow day fun!

I do enjoy a walk in the snow and it’s so beautiful to look at. But, I don’t like it when it turns icy.
